Building Confidence for life's unpleasant encounters
We teach avoidance of crime through mental awareness and physical protection with firearms and self-defense training concepts.
Confidence: belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities. Build: to construct (especially something complex) by assembling and joining parts.
While our programs are not unique, the way we teach them are. We focus on concept learning. We give you the basics and then practice how those concepts can work in a variety of situations. We explain why things work, and why they don't. We don't use scare tactics, we use experience.
We use building blocks of instruction, starting with awareness training. Without situational awareness, you won't see problems before they start. Avoidance of danger is the best defense, but if danger is imminent, we can teach you how it is likely to present itself, and how to deal with it. With Awareness in mind, we then focus on the types of training you want. Firearms? Take a look at our firearms training pages ; Concealed Carry, Advanced Concealed Carry and 20 hour Security Firearms , to find a variety of shooting programs. Something less lethal? Our Civilian Safety Awareness Program is small; only 12 students at per class, short in duration and perfect for those wanting to be proactive in their safety, want to add an additional tool while carrying a firearm, or simply might not want or can't carry a firearm. If you have a business which has concerns about potential violence in the workplace, we offer violence mitigation lectures.
If you are just curious about self defense, what to know more about firearms, are a skilled shooter but want to truly understand what it takes to carry concealed, or want a simple way to add protection to your daily life, take a look at what we have to offer. We are confident we can build yours.
"If you shoot like a girl, it must mean you are pretty good!" says Debbie Brown, President and Lead Instructor for AwareConfrontReact. A shooter since she was 16 years old, Debbie became a firearms instructor in 2009. She received her certification through the state of Ohio's Peace Officer Training Academy, and then through the National Rifle Association. She is certified in Pistol, Shotgun, and Revolver, and as a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators And Trainers Association, has taken extensive classes to keep current in all tactics related to firearms training.
She is a certified Subject Control Instructor, an assistant instructor in the Sudden Assault Response System, and is currently an instructor at Medina Career Center Police Academy.
"All techniques work, until they don't." A phrase Henry Brettrager, guest instructor at AwareConfrontReact, says frequently. He lives by the saying, understanding that one technique does't work for everything. Being a practitioner of several disciplines of the martial arts, and a Martial Art Instructor for over 30 years, Henry recently developed his own self defense program, Sudden Assault Response System. Originally developed for law enforcement officers who were suddenly and violently attacked, he has taught this simple and effective system for the past five years to police departments from all over the world. He has been featured in PoliceOne training videos for law enforcement and corrections.
An excellent firearms instructor, Henry has firearm certifications in pistol, shotgun, revolver, and carbine rifles. He has a background in swat tactics as a operator and swat commander.
Henry recently returned from St. Louis after a week long instructor level certification in Krav Maga. A concept driven system designed to teach students in the shortest amount of time to defeat attackers. Henry's instructor rating is one of only a few in northeast Ohio obtained by certified Krav Maga instructors trained in Israel by former and current IDF Commanders and Security Chiefs.
